Match Report – Under 16 Summer League

Great team effort sees Ratoath through! Full Time: Simonstown 2-4 – Ratoath 3-20 Ratoaths fine form continued in the Under 16 Summer League on Tuesday night with a good win over Simonstown. The weather was perfect for this match and both sides started brightly but it was Ratoath who got on the scoreboard first with fine points by Leigh Sullivan (a 45) and Tom Fadden. Simonstown responded with a really well worked goal in the 9th minute to edge ahead. John Walsh scored a nice point for Ratoath and Andrew Gerrard edged Ratoath ahead with a really good individual effort. Ratoath were starting to get on top, with Gerrard and Gary Reilly doing particularly well in mid field. A Connell Ahearne goal on 14 minutes widened Ratoath’s lead further and was the significant score of the first half. Ratoath pushed on and added a further 7 points to Simonstown’s 2 before half time. Scorers for Ratoath were Sullivan 3 points, Walsh 1, Gerrard 1, Fadden 1 and captain Ryan Kelly 1. Half Time – Simonstown 1-2 – Ratoath 1-11 The second half followed much the same pattern as the first half. Tom Fadden scored a goal early and this helped Ratoath settle quickly. Simonstown responded with two very good points and did have a chance for a goal but keeper David Caffrey made a fine save. What: Ratoath U’8 Footballers play in Croke Park When: Monday July 13th, 9am 25 soon to be men left Ratoath at 7.15 to meet in Croke Park at 8.15. 2 teams took to pitch at 9.00 against Cappagh Kildare. Game played in wet conditions but both Ratoath teams played their hearts out and had 2 great wins. Represented Ratoath GAA with great pride and passion.
