Ratoath 2-12 Gael Colmcille 1-14

Ratoath’s Junior hurlers edged this tight hard fought encounter against Gael Colmcille’s First team on a bright sunny evening in Brownstown on Friday night, 11 May. The game began with both sides exchanging points and was to set the pattern for the duration of the game. Cian Rogers, Shane McGoldrick & Sean Johnson were amongst the scorers. The Kells outfit just managed to shade the first half leading by a point at half time by 7 points to 6.

Into the second half and both sides continued to cancel each other out on the scoreboard, including when a goal was scored by Rogers early on with a green flag soon raised for the visitors to level the game up again. Another goal by the same player put daylight between the sides but the North Meath men kept coming back with scores of their own. Ultimately finishing scores from Rogers, Conleth McLarnon & Ger Brennan was just about enough to get  Mick Brazil’s charges over the line and eke out a victory by the narrowest of margins.
