Ratoath 2-7, Kilmanham 0-6.
Playing  against a strong wind Ratoath used their experience in the first half to go in 1-4, 03 up. A great goal from Mick Lavin and great work rate from the forwards kept their noses in front.
Despite playing with the wind in the second half, this half was a much tighter affair. The crucial score came from Robbie Madden, who scored the goal to keep a cushion between the teams. Overall a great start to the championship. Best for Ratoath were John Kirwan, Robbie Madden, Evan Donnelly and Darren Lyons.
