Kiltale were full value for this 9 point win in this all county division 1 league fixture played on a warm Saturday evening in Kiltale’s home ground.

The first half was an even affair with Kiltale initially scoring the first 3 points of the game. The visitors, missing several of the team who played the first 5 league games, nevertheless were not overawed and soon got going with white flags raised for Cian Rogers and Sean Keogh. Kiltale had the upper hand for the next 10 minutes with only Jack McGowan with a brace of points keeping his side in touch, as they trailed 8 to 4 mid way through the half. Rogers began to feature a lot more scoring the next 4 Ratoath points (3 from frees) as they narrowed Kiltale’s lead. After that it was score for score as McGowan tipped over another point from play and Dave Keane’s charges competed to leave the bare minimum between the teams at half time : 0-11 to 0-10.
The second half told a different story as Kiltale dominated and a 40th minute goal effectively finished the game as a contest. The visitors continued to battle but were let down by some bad wides in their hopes to mount a comeback. Eventually they got their first point of the half with a Rogers point in the 50th minute and a Ben McGowan point was another consolation score. Alas though they can have no complaints as the home side recorded their 9 point victory to climb to second in the league table, with Ratoath still on top despite the defeat.
