Ratoath ran out comprehensive winners in this league clash against Kilskyre in Dunganny last Friday evening. Eamonn Ryan’s charges played against the strong breeze in the first half and partly explains why they didn’t score for the first 20 minutes, with the scoreline reading 3 points to nil. In that time Ratoath had lots of wides and struggled to get any pattern into their play before Sean O’Hanrahan eventually opened his side’s account. After that it was one way traffic as Ratoath got the last 7 scores of the half including a goal from Niall Murphy after Jack McGowan had run half the length of the field only to see his shot saved.
The second half began with the South Meath men defending a 6 point lead (1-6 to 0-3) and it quickly became apparent they would not relinquish this advantage as they tagged on a flurry of scores with Kevin Laffey, Padraig O’Hanrahan, McGowan amongst others, to get on the scoresheet. Conleth McLarnon also got 2 great points near the end after coming on as a sub, as Ratoath finished the game winning the game by 18 points. Best for Ratoath included Jack McGowan who featured strongly throughout while Turlough O’Neill and Sean McCann impressed in defense.
