Ratoath’s front pitch was graced with a strong performance by our Intermediate Camogie team on the morning of May 1, which resulted in a second win in the Championship. Aine McNerney opened the scoring with a fine point 5 minutes into the game. Aine was in flying form and went on to bag herself a further 2 goals and 3 points throughout the game. Although Ratoath were playing into the wind they had the measure of it and controlled the half, going in at 2 – 9 to 0 – 3, with Niamh McLoughlin, Emma McNerney, Lauren McCann and Anna Branagan all getting their names onto the score sheet.
Dunderry came out strong in the second half and physicality played a big part in the game. Dunderry scored a goal and a point early into the half, but Ratoath weren’t long about responding with Niamh McLoughlin increasing her tally which totaled 7 points by end of play. Niamh O’Riordan put in a staunch performance between the posts and weathered a few Dunderry attacks on her goal, which may have changed the course of the game. In summary although Dunderry put it up to our girls, Ratoath dominated proceedings and put in a huge team effort throughout the 60 minutes. Apart from the score takers there was Trojan work done all over the pitch by everyone. Well done all.
