Bhí buaiteoirí compordach ag Ráth Tó sa chéad bhabhta seo a bhí ag imirt craobhchomórtais in aimsir fhionnuar tirim i mBaile Átha Troim tráthnóna Dé Domhnaigh.

Ratoath got off to a flying start with an impressive opening to their championship campaign in beating Longwood in Trim on Sunday afternoon.

The game began with Longwood on the front foot and got the first couple of points. Ratoath though hit back with scores of their own and got their first goal in the 10th minute to take a lead they would not relinquish. From then on it was very much one way traffic as the men from South East Meath extended their lead with goals in the 18th and 26th minutes as they made their dominance in possession count. Longwood, to their credit, kept plugging away and took scores of their own and were still in touch at half time as trailed 3-6 to 0-7.

Ratoath came out of the blocks with a flourish in the second half and scored 3 well taken goals in the space of 10 minutes to effectively end the game as a contest. Longwood continued to battle and raised a few white flags but their opponents were well superior on the day as they applied the coup de grace with a 7th green flag in the 28th minute raised and finished the game 27 point winners.
