Adult Hurling Divison 1 Round 3
Ratoath 5-20 Trim 4-10
Venue: Ratoath, 31 March 2018
Within 3 minutes Trim opened up a lead of two points through a point from play and a free. From there on David O’Reilly’s charges took control, although aided by a few lucky goals, in what was to be a hard fought game. Ratoath dominated for the most part until 3 late goals from Trim in the last 10 minutes gave the score line more respectability for the visitors, but compliments to them for battling to the final whistle.
Trim were without county stalwart James Toher which significantly impacted team strength.
Overall Jack McGowan led by example and gave a captain’s performance in midfield combining with his 3 younger brothers in the forward line while also ending with a tally of 1-03.
Other shifts of note were from Paddy Dowd, Darragh Kelly, Niall and Conleith McLarnon and young Cian Rogers.
Both sides will know that intensity-levels will need to significantly rise as higher temperatures of championship beckons in the not too distant future.
Compliments must go to Monaghan man Martin Burns and colleagues who had pitch surface similar to that of a billiard table which is remarkable at this time of year.
