Trim proved much too strong for an understrength Ratoath side in this Round 9 League clash played in Trim’s home ground on Tuesday night. The home side showed their intent from the start and were 4 points to nil in front, before grabbing their first goal half way through the opening half. The visitors though started to settle and Francis Coyne hit 3 points on the trot from play, to leave only a goal between the times. Back came Trim to hit what was to prove the decisive purple patch of the game, as they hit 1-6 to a solitary point in reply to go in at half time 2-10 to 0-5 in front.
Despite being effectively out of the game to the credit of Fergal Power’s charges, they kept battling throughout the second half and managed 2 goals from Bobby O’Brien and Niall Donnelly to reduce the arrears, but ultimately could not threaten Trim’s big half time lead with the latter running out 13 point winners. Best for Ratoath were Jack Mcgowan, Dara Kelly, Bobby O’Brien, Francis Coyne and Niall Donnelly.
